Survey analysis on the impact of copyright law and open policies in relation to digitisation in the GLAM sector

Under the auspices of ReCreating Europe and in collaboration with Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies Pisa, Glasgow University, LIBER, Szeged University, University of Tartu and Maynooth University, the University of Trento is undertaking a survey on the impact of intellectual property law, especially copyright, on the practice of digitising cultural heritage by Galleries Libraries Archives Museums (GLAMs).
The survey informs on the impact that copyright law and open policies have on digitisation practices undertaken by GLAM stakeholders, determining to what extent the law functions as a barrier to access, use and reuse of digital content and suggesting the possible countermeasures. The information gathered from the questionnaire will be used by the researchers to suggest best practices, guidelines and policies to carry out digitisation practices in light of a rebalanced copyright law.
The GLAM survey was launched on September 10 and will be available until early December at the following URL: https://srssurvey2.unitn.it/ls6/limesurvey/index.php/872418?lang=en
