The Future of Hydrogen: Between Rules and Technologies
On November 10, 2022 the Faculty of Law of the University Trento will host a seminar on the prospects of the hydrogen sector in the low carbon transition. The focus will be on the interplay between legal interventions and technological innovation: how can hydrogen infrastructures be integrated into existing energy systems? Which interoperability requirements have to be put in place? Which strategies can reduce uncertainty and foster investments? More fundamentally, whose interests should be granted priority?
The seminar will start with the discussion of the legal issues. Lorenzo Parola, one the most well-known energy lawyers in Italy and Europe, will describe his experience in the field. Giuseppe Bellantuono and Alessandra Porcari will propose some reflections on the latest legislative and regulatory developments, both in Italy and at international level.
The second part of the seminar will be devoted to technological developments. Antonio Miotello, scientific coordinator of the Trentino Green Deal Project, and Luigi Crema, vice-president of the Italian Hydrogen Association and member of the board of Hydrogen Europe Research, will present their research and provide a state-of-the-art review on hydrogen technologies.
The last part of the seminar will be devoted to a discussion with representative of companies that are investing in the hydrogen sector. We will hear from them which barriers they face and which developments they expect in the near future.
