Wine Law
The study of the wine chain’s regulation offers a representative and useful case study in order to deepen our understanding of many of the national, supranational and international dynamics characterizing most of the agro-food chains. The problems dealt with cover from the regulation of the geographical indications to the control of information, labeling and advertising, from products’ safety to the increasing use of certifications. Two are the specific topics on which attention has been focused at the moment: on one hand, the drafting of legal guidelines for the management of the critical points in the wine productive process (in collaboration with Unione Italiana Vini); on the other, the reform regarding the certifications of quality wines, introduced with the new EC regulation on the common organization of the market in wine and entered into force August 1, 2009. The analysis is conducted in comparative fashion, an important point of view for an industry which experiences the so called globalization of the markets in a significant way.
